CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Federal prosecutors say a Logan County woman has admitted her role in starting an apartment fire in exchange for cash from someone who filed an insurance claim.

U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin says 46-year-old Kimberly D. Kinder of Chapmanville pleaded guilty in federal court in Charleston to conspiracy to commit arson.

Court records show Kinder admitted pouring gasoline on clothing and lighting it inside an apartment in the Boone County community of Van.

Goodwin says the person filed an insurance claim and received more than $80,000, and Kinder admitted the individual then paid her about $2,000 for her role in setting the fire.

Kinder faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing has been set for Sept. 26.
