PAX, W.Va. -- A Raleigh County man was killed Wednesday after a tractor-trailer rear-ended and pushed his car into the back of another tractor-trailer, police said.

West Virginia State Police Cpl. R.C. Workman responded to the collision at about 6:35 p.m. at the toll plaza along the West Virginia Turnpike in Pax, according to a statement by Sgt. Michael Baylous.

Baylous said Michael Reeves Daugherty, 46, of Parsons, Kan., failed to stop his tractor-trailer and rear-ended a 2011 Suzuki SX4 driven by Jeremy Dickens, 34, of Beckley. The collision pushed Dickens' car into the back of another tractor-trailer parked in an adjacent lane and killed him instantly.

The collision remains under investigation, Baylous said.
