CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Staples and DoSomething.org, a national teen-focused organization that works for social change, have teamed up to collect school supplies for the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club of Charleston.

The drive encourages local young people to collect school supplies and drop them off at their nearest Staples store starting Sunday and running through Sept. 15.

All school supplies will be given locally to the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club of Charleston to ensure they get into the hands of disadvantaged youth in time for the new school year, according to a news release.

Two local Staples stores where people can drop off school supplies are at 2810 Mountaineer Boulevard in Charleston and at 800 Nitro Marketplace near Cross Lanes.

Staples customers also can donate $1 or more at any Staples store, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting local students in need, according to the release. To kick off the school supplies campaign, Staples will donate $125,000 worth of supplies to the program.
