Water company will not shut off service

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- West Virginia American Water officials said there are no plans to shut off water service to its customer base.

Crews are working around the clock to restore service to its customers, according to a recent press release, and no planned water outages have been scheduled.

Small pockets of customers in higher elevations may still experience incremental outages, the release states. Oak Hill, in Fayette County, is experiencing an outage because of a generator malfunction at the New River water treatment plant, which caused the water storage tanks that serve the town to deplete.
