WINFIELD -- People who need to get rid of spoiled food in Putnam County can dispose of it between 4 and 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the courthouse in Winfield and at the Park and Ride in Scott Depot.

Only food items and no general garbage will be accepted, dispatchers said.

About 13,000 electricity customers in Putnam were without power on Monday, according to Appalachian Power's website. AEP projects power will be restored to the county by Friday night.
