Anniversaries

The Father's House,: 500 29th St., North Charleston, welcomes Pastor Bobby Thomas and the congregation of the Church of God in Christ at 6 p.m. Sunday in celebration of pre-anniversary services for the Rev. Dr. Lloyd A. and First Lady Rosa Hill.

Levi First Missionary Baptist Church: will celebrate Pastor James Jackson's Fourth Anniversary on Sunday at the church, 5125 Church Drive. The Rev. Jerry Staples, choir and congregation of Liberty Baptist Church will be guest for the 11 a.m. morning worship service. The Rev. Nelson Staples III, choir and congregation of Mount Zion Baptist Church of Beckley will be guests at the 3 p.m. Sunday service.

Metropolitan Baptist Church: will celebrate its 97th Church Anniversary at 11 a.m. July 22 at the church, 205 Donnally St. Guest preacher will be Minister Franklin Hairston of Fairmont. Pre-anniversary services will be held 7 p.m. July 17-19. For information, contact the church.

The Achievers Class of the Fifth Avenue Church of God in South Charleston: will open its Clothes Closet from 10 a.m. to noon on July 21. Clothes are free to families and individuals in need. Mount Vernon Baptist Church,: 2150 Mount Vernon Road, Hurricane, has selected Josh Callaway as minister of youth. He was named to the full-time position on July 1. Calloway recently completed studies at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C. Native West Virginians, he and his wife, Bethany, are graduates of Concord University. Their children are Elise, 2 years old, and Madelyn, one month old.

Faith in Action Caregivers: will hold the 11th Annual Triathlon and Duathlon July 14 at Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling. The triathlon begins with a 400-yard swim in the pool at the McDonough Center at 7:30 a.m. July 14. The second leg is a 25K bike course. The race concludes with a 5K run on paved streets in the neighborhood of the university. Registration is $80 for individuals, $120 for two-person teams and $235 for three-person teams. Race participants can stay on the campus the night before the race. A pre-race pasta dinner for athletes and volunteers will be held on Friday.
