Mount Vernon Baptist Church,: 2150 Mount Vernon Road, Hurricane, has selected Josh Callaway as minister of youth. He was named to the full-time position on July 1. Calloway recently completed studies at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C. Native West Virginians, he and his wife, Bethany, are graduates of Concord University. Their children are Elise, 2 years old, and Madelyn, one month old.

Faith in Action Caregivers: will hold the 11th Annual Triathlon and Duathlon July 14 at Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling. The triathlon begins with a 400-yard swim in the pool at the McDonough Center at 7:30 a.m. July 14. The second leg is a 25K bike course. The race concludes with a 5K run on paved streets in the neighborhood of the university. Registration is $80 for individuals, $120 for two-person teams and $235 for three-person teams. Race participants can stay on the campus the night before the race. A pre-race pasta dinner for athletes and volunteers will be held on Friday. Charleston Seventh-day Adventist Church,: 622 Kanawha Blvd. West. Dr. Don Jacobsen will give a family-changer presentation titled "Rare Kids, Well Done" from 6 to 8 p.m. both July 21 and 22. Music

A benefit gospel sing: for Steve and Linda Wood will be held at 1 p.m. today at Midway Community Church, Campbells Creek. A hot dog sale/ bake sale and drinks, will be available for purchase from 10:30 a.m. until the end of the sing. Proceeds will help toward Linda's medical bills. The sing is open to all gospel singers who want to help. Performing will be Randy Wood, New Prophets, Millie Tate, eight-year-old Allison Tate, Susie Sigmon and others. Charleston Baptist Temple: will present the musical, "Are You Sure" at 7 p.m. June 14 at the church, corner of Quarrier and Morris streets. The musical will be presented by the 70-youth and 15-adult members of the Youth Choir of Northside United Methodist Church, Atlanta, Ga. Rosemont Gospel Sing: will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 14 at Victory Valley Church, Rosemont, located off W.Va. 76, East of Bridgeport. Go approximately 5 miles, following signs to the church. The sing is free. Emcee will be Coach Marshall of Oak Hill. A covered-dish dinner will be held at 5 p.m. Bring something to share. A love offering will be taken to help with expenses and a fundraiser for the youth camps and ministries. Singers include: The Sessions with the Rev. Jimmy Arnold of Grafton at 4:15 p.m.; the Rev. Good Shepherd Free Will Baptist Church,: 5470 West Pea Ridge Road, Huntington, will have its Sunday school at 10 a.m. and the morning worship at 11 a.m. Sunday with Pastor Jason C. Black, preaching. Pilgrim Home Missionary Baptist Church,: 7015 Kanawha St., St. Albans, has cancelled their annual Family Day scheduled for Sunday. The church will reschedule the event at a later date.
