WHEELING, W.Va. -- Chesapeake Energy expects to complete a well to access natural gas underneath Oglebay Park in the fourth quarter of 2012.
Spokeswoman Jacque Bland tells The Intelligencer and Wheeling News Register that the company hasn't determined when production will begin. It first must establish gathering and transmission lines.
Once production begins, the city of Wheeling and the Wheeling Park Commission will split a 14 percent royalty.
Chesapeake will use horizontal drilling to access the gas. No drilling equipment will be located on the surface of the Wheeling park's property.
