Wood grand jury to hear report on police shooting
Advertiser

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. -- A grand jury will consider the findings of an investigation of a fatal police shooting in Wood County.

Prosecutor Jason Wharton told the Parkersburg News and Sentinel that the grand jury will decide what the next step will be.

Wharton said he'll present a report on the investigation to the grand jury. But he said he can't release the date.

Three Wood County deputies shot 32-year-old Jody Wilson of Lubeck on March 18 during a standoff at his parents' home. The sheriff's department said the deputies fired at Wilson after he shot at officers.

Wharton requested a State Police investigation after an internal investigation by the sheriff's department found that the deputies didn't violate department policies.
