Virginia man goes on trial in slayings of 2 in state

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- A Virginia man is on trial in West Virginia on charges of killing a woman and her 3-year-old son.

Antonio Prophet is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree arson. The 36-year-old resident of Lorton, Va., is accused of killing 22-year-old Angela Kay Devonshire and her son, Andre White, and then setting their home near Bunker Hill on fire.

The victims' bodies were found June 6, 2010.

Media outlets report that Prophet's trial began Tuesday in Berkeley County Circuit Court.
