Arrest made in Lincoln County death
ALKOL, W.Va. -- A man was arrested in Lincoln County after another man's body was found near Alkol on Wednesday night.
Greg Justice, 32, of Sumerco, was arrested Thursday, according to State Police spokesman Sgt. Michael Baylous.
Baylous said the body of Daniel Cook, 29, was found in a creek along Laurel Fork Road about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. He said the partially decomposed body had been in the water.
According to a criminal complaint on file in Lincoln County Magistrate Court, Justice told police he took Cook to a secluded place near where the body was found on July 6, and shot him with a .22 caliber rifle. Baylous said the two men were apparently friends.
Cook's body was sent to the West Virginia Medical Examiner's office for an autopsy.
Justice was charged with first-degree murder in connection with Cook's death. He was being held without bond Thursday in the Western Regional Jail.
