Teen arrested for stolen drugs

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A 13-year-old St. Albans boy was arrested this morning after allegedly stealing his mother's prescription medication and breaking into a neighbor's home.

Lt. Sean Crosier of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department said the boy's mother called deputies about midnight after noticing her medication had been stolen. A short time later, a neighbor, Darrell Frye, 52, of MacCorkle Avenue in St. Albans, was awakened by his dogs barking.

Crosier said Frye allegedly found the boy hiding in his garden with a stolen lantern. Frye then began chasing the youth, who tried to escape by jumping into a nearby creek.

But Crosier said the youth had apparently taken some of the prescription drugs, and had a hard time running in a straight line. He said the boy received a gash on his leg while trying to get away.

Crosier said the boy was taken to the hospital and charged with burglary on his release.
