Police identify four dead in Roane head-on collision

SPENCER, W.Va. -- Police have identified the four victims of a fatal crash in Roane County Saturday.

The victims of the head-on collision are Travon Jamal Frisby, 20, of Middle River, Md.; Cameron Marcus Shields, 19, also of Middle River; Steven Ranjo, 40, of Philadelphia; and Leo Ranjo, 88, also of Philadelphia, according to a release from the West Virginia State Police.

Roane County dispatchers said the two vehicles collided before 4:20 p.m. Saturday in the southbound lanes of on Interstate 79 near mile-marker 31 and close to the community of Newton.

All four occupants were pronounced dead on the scene.

The crash happened with a northbound vehicle crossed the median and collided head-on with a southbound vehicle, according to police.

In a release, police did not identify which of the victims were in which vehicle.
