FUTURE EVENTS

Kanawha Trail Club: will sponsor a hike at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, in Coonskin Park. Carpool from Ohio and Randolph streets and re-group at the swimming pool parking lot. The hike is 3 to 4 miles along the Elk River, nature trail and adjunct areas on easy trails with a moderate grade.

American Legion Unit 73, Auxiliary Unit 73 of Veterans of Foreign Wars: will have its monthly all-you-can eat pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the American Legion Hall, Pennsylvania Ave., St. Albans. Rain or shine.

Elk Valley Public Service District Commissioners: will have a special board meeting at 1 p.m. Tuesday at 100 Bream Drive, Elkview.

Fireside Grille: will have its "Goes To The Dogs Fundraiser" from 2 to 5 p.m. Aug. 12 at its location in Hurricane. Trophies will be awarded for Best Dressed, Most Photogenic, Best Costume and Best Trick. A dog dip will cost $3; dog wash, $5; pedicures, $2; and Smooch-A-Pooch, featuring Gerty, will be $1. Photographer Robin Montgomery will be available for pictures of your pets for $5. All proceeds will go toward building the new animal shelter.

Putnam County Parks and Recreation Commission Valley Park Wave Pool: will sponsor a Dog Swim at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 3 at Valley (Wave Pool) Park. Donations will be accepted for the new animal shelter.
