Anniversaries

Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate the Rev. Robert K. Davis' and first lady Adeline Davis' 26th Pastoral Anniversary. The celebration begins with a fashion show sponsored by the Pastor's Aide, at 5 p.m. on Aug. 11 at the Kanawha Players Theatre, 509 Beauregard St. There is a $10 donation. The climax of the pastoral celebration will be held at 3 p.m. Aug. 19 at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 509 Beauregard St., with the Rev. Lennoris Dixon speaking and accompanied by the choir and congregation. Dinner will be served immediately following the morning service from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 19.  

Miscellaneous

South Charleston Christian Church will conduct a yard sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 4 at the church, located at 206 E St., South Charleston. A hot-dog sale with chili, slaw, onions, mustard and ketchup, will also be held. The yard sale will be held in the basement of the Fellowship Hall and will feature clothing of all sizes, household items and other miscellaneous items.

West Dunbar Community Church, 102 Bunche Ave., Dunbar, will have a hot-dog and yard sale between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and again from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 4 at the church. A gospel sing will begin at 6 p.m.

Christ the King Catholic Church will have a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. August 4 at the church, 1504 Grosscup Ave., Dunbar.

Elk River Church of the Nazarene is holding a fall bazaar "Shop Till You Drop Event" from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 22 at the church. Many vendors, including Tastefully Simple, and Mary Kay will be featured. Concessions will also be available for purchase. Applications for table rentals are being accepted. Tables will be available for rental for $20. Proceeds will help support the Adult Ministries trip to the Women of Faith Conference in Charlotte this October.

Church of God MPG of Truth, 1001 Hendrix Ave., will have a yard sale beginning 11 a.m. Aug. 4 at the church.

Sugar Creek Community Mission Church, 2209 Falcon Dr., will have Bible school from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the church. Classes will be available for all ages.

A rummage sale fundraiser for Pleasant View United Methodist Church will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 4 at the church on Fisher Ridge Road in Jackson County. In addition to numerous items for sale, there will be hot dogs/barbecues, side dishes and baked goods for sale from lunch until close. Eat-in or take-out is available.

St. Christopher Episcopal Church will have a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 11 at the church, 821 Edgewood Dr. Books, clothing, furniture, household items, lawn and garden items and more will be available. To get to the church on the West Side, turn from Washington Street onto Edgewood Drive. Turn left on Beech Avenue and go one block. Turn left onto Somerset. Lighthouse Worship Center will have a community yard sale from 7 a.m. to 2 pm. Aug. 4 at the church located on W.Va. 21, Call Road, Tuppers Creek Exit of Interstate 77. The church is located on the hill behind Anchor Muffler in Sissonville. The multi-family yard sale will be held on the church parking lot and items include clothing, electronics, lawn equipment, cookware, software, hardware and more.

Music

Mike Upright of Penrose, N.C., will sing at 6 p.m. Aug. 12 at Spradling Gospel Tabernacle on Bakers Fork Road. Upright has been on several television and radio stations.

The Skyline Boys from Virginia will sing at 6 p.m. Aug. 5 at Lovers Leap Baptist Church, Ansted. Admission is free, however, a love offering will be taken. For information, call Jerry Skaggs at 304-658-4457.

King of Glory International Ministries will be celebrating their Fourth Pastoral Anniversary Thursday through Aug. 12 at the church, 302 Delaware Ave. The schedule includes: 7 p.m., Thursday, Pastor Donte' Jackson, First Baptist Church of Huntington; 7 p.m., Friday, Elder Bobby Thomas of COGIC of Charleston; 7 p.m. Aug. 11, Pastor Wanda Shelton, New Jerusalem Non-Denominational Church; 11 a.m., Aug. 12, Elder Mark D. Walker Jr. of Kingdom Empowerment Ministries; 5 p.m., Aug. 12, Pastor Lois Daniels, The Apostolic Lighthouse Deliverance Temple, Beckley. 

The Anchormen Quartet, of Goldsboro N.C., and the Laborers Quartet of Charleston will be in concert at 7 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Glasgow Church of the Nazarene. There will be a free outdoor gospel concert at 6 p.m. on Aug. 18 at Liberty Baptist's new property, located just U.S. 60 on Yates Crossing in Ona. Singers will be the Humphreys, The Sacred Heirs and The Harvesters from Sanford, N.C. Bring a lawn chair and a friend.
