CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A woman admitted Wednesday to federal charges she robbed a Teays Valley nursing home while wearing a clown mask and followed up by robbing a Lincoln County bank several weeks later.

Morgan Marie Mullins, 26, of West Hamlin, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Thomas E. Johnston on Wednesday to using and carrying a firearm in a crime of violence, interfering with interstate commerce by threats of violence and armed bank robbery.

Mullins admitted that on May 2, carrying a 9mm pistol, she walked into the Teays Valley Center nursing home in Hurricane and demanded numerous controlled substances from the on-duty employees, according to a release from U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin.

Mullins admitted that she was wearing a clown mask and medical scrub pants and Croc-style shoes during the robbery. She allegedly pulled a gun on employees and forced them to lie on the floor before making off with medication, according to the original criminal complaint.

Mullins was employed at the nursing home at the time of the robbery.

She also admitted that several weeks later, she robbed the City National Bank in West Hamlin of $3,003. She used the same gun during both robberies.

She faces a minimum of seven years in federal prison and a maximum of life, along with a $750,000 fine, when she is sentenced Dec. 5.
