CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Kanawha County man was arrested Thursday afternoon after allegedly stabbing another man during an argument.

Two men were reported to be involved in an altercation at 3137 Rutledge Road near Elkview at about 3 p.m., said Kanawha County 911 dispatchers. Paramedics responded and took one man to CAMC General Hospital with a stab wound to his stomach.

According to a criminal complaint on file in Kanawha County Magistrate Court, deputies responding to the scene found Keary Drake lying on the ground and clutching a wound on his stomach. Drake told deputies he was helping his neice, Kayla Drake, move out of the home of Derek James Bailey, 23, of 3136 Rutledge Road, when he and Bailey got into an argument.

According to the criminal complaint, Drake told deputies he punched Bailey. As the two continued to fight, Bailey allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed Drake, the complaint said.

Deputies recovered a fixed-blade knife believed to be used in the stabbing.

Bailey was charged with malicious wounding. He was in the South Central Regional Jail late Thursday in lieu of $15,000 bond.
