CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A man stabbed along the Kanawha River in downtown Charleston on Friday night was in critical condition at a Charleston hospital this morning.

Adam Otey, 37, of Charleston, was found by a jogger shortly before 10 p.m. Friday, according to Lt. C.E. Sisson of the Charleston Police Department.

Otey, who had been stabbed in his neck, was laying on his back on the lower level of the Kanawha River walkway near Morris Street. Sisson said. "There was a lot of blood loss there," he said.

Otey was in critical condition this afternoon at CAMC General Hospital, according to a nursing operator.

Police surmise that the incident was a robbery, Sisson said. He said the contents of a backpack were scattered around the scene.

Sisson said no one had been arrested as of late this morning, and there was no description of a suspect.
