FOSTER, W.Va. -- Kanawha County sheriff's deputies have made an arrest in connection with a stabbing Monday in Chelyan.

Jason Eric Hall, 35, initially told deputies a man broke into his Chelyan home about 2:30 a.m. Monday and stabbed him in the back, according to Lt. Sean Crosier of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.

But Crosier said Hall later admitted he got into a fight with his girlfriend. Sarah E. Halstead, 28, of Foster, allegedly stabbed Hall before fleeing to Boone County, Crosier said.

Deputies got a warrant for Halstead, who was arrested on a malicious wounding charge.

Halstead was in the South Central Regional Jail this morning awaiting arraignment.
