AMMA, W.Va. -- U.S. Marshals and local authorities caught up with a fugitive in Amma on Wednesday who is wanted in possible connection with a series of sexual offenses.

Jerry Lee Key, 44, was arrested on a warrant issued by the U.S. District Court of Southern West Virginia, according to a press release issued by the U.S. Marshals Service.

Key was wanted for violating his federally supervised release from prison, where he had been jailed for 15 years for raping a family member, the press release said. Kanawha County sheriff's deputies also wanted to question him in connection with a series of sex-related crimes committed since his release.

Key was tracked to a house in Amma, where he allegedly tried to get away on foot by running into the woods, according to U.S. Marshals. While trying to get away, he allegedly reached for a fanny pack he was wearing and was shot with a TASER gun.

Key was taken to the South Central Regional Jail, where he is awaiting court hearings on the charges.
