ST. ALBANS, W.Va. -- Kanawha County sheriff's deputies expect to file charges against two St. Albans-area women who got into a fight that ended when one allegedly shot the other with an air rifle.

Deputies went to a house on Strawberry Road near St. Albans at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to find paramedics treating Tara Jo Turley, 37, of Strawberry Road, for an air-rifle wound to the neck, according to Capt. Bryan Robbins of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.

Robbins said deputies believe Turley got into a fight with Jacqueline N. McClanahan, 30, also of Strawberry Road. McClanahan alleged Turley assaulted her with a baseball bat, Robbins said, and deputies believe McClanahan then allegedly shot Turley with the air rifle.

Turley was taken to CAMC General Hospital where she remained under observation Thursday, a nursing supervisor said.

Robbins said deputies expect to charge Turley with battery and McClanahan with malicious wounding.
