FUTURE EVENTS

Charleston City Council of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority's board will meet at 6:45 p.m. Thursday at the South Charleston Municipal Court Building. The general business meeting will follow at 7 p.m. The Convention Committee will meet at 5:50 p.m. President Anne Stone will conduct the business meeting. All officers and committee members are urged to attend.

Putnam County Parks and Recreation will have a parking lot sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday on the parking lot of Valley (Wave Pool) Park. Spaces are available for rental for $15. Call the Putnam County Parks and Recreation office at 304-562-0518, ext. 10.

Clendenin Volunteer Fire Department will have its 2012 Photo Fund Drive from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday and Sept. 16 at the Clendenin Fire Station. Donations are $10 and a complimentary 10-by-13 family portrait will be given. Walk-ins are welcome. Proceeds will go toward updating rescue and firefighting equipment.

Central West Virginia Outreach Center will host a "Pedal for a Purpose" from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 15 beginning at Sutton Dam. The ride is for pleasure only and is part of CWVOC's fundraising efforts for construction of a warehouse on Enterprise Drive, Gassaway. The ride route will be to Hope Baptist Church in Frametown and back to Sutton Dam. Riders 13 and older can ride the entire 30-mile course or any portion they wish. A cookout will follow the ride at the Sutton Dam. Riders are asked to secure financial contributions or pledges. Awards will be presented at the end of the ride. Riders younger than 15 are required to wear a helmet. Registration is $25. A free T-shirt will be given to the first 100 registered riders. Donations, pledges and registration prior to Sept. 15 can be made at CWVOC Warehouse, 314 Elk St., Gassaway, WV 26624. On the day of the event, registration will begin at 8 a.m. at the #1 pavilion below Sutton Dam. For questions, call Ashley Napier at 304-364-HOPE.
