ST. ALBANS, W.Va. -- A Kanawha County man was robbed at gunpoint Thursday night after a man in a wheelchair feigned needing assistance.

Joshua Hillman, 27, of St. Albans, was driving down Coal River Road near Valley Street around 11:30 p.m. when he was flagged down by a man in an electric wheelchair, according to the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.

Hillman thought the man in the wheelchair, who he knows as Zack, needed help, so he pulled over. Once stopped, two white males, one holding a rifle, rapidly approached Hillman from behind and demanded he empty his pockets, according to the Sheriff's Department.

The suspects fled the scene. Hillman said Zack is a thin white male with short brown hair and thin facial hair. The suspected gunman is also a thin white male in his 20s.

Anyone with information is asked to call Deputy J.S. Shackelford at 304-357-0169.
