CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The state has settled a lawsuit that claimed a former agency official was fired because she questioned how grant money was allocated.
Board of Risk and Insurance Management head Chuck Jones says that Kelly Davis' lawsuit was settled Aug. 8. The state will pay Davis $190,000.
Davis is a former deputy director of the Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity. She sued the state in Kanawha County Circuit Court last year.
The lawsuit claimed Davis was fired after she raised questions about the ability of the office's director to oversee grant money.
The state denied the allegations and said Davis resigned.
