CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Three West Virginia airports will share more than $1.8 million in federal grants.
Sens. Jay Rockefeller and Joe Manchin and U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall announced the grants Thursday.
Tri-State Airport in Huntington is getting the lion's share of the funding. The airport will receive nearly $1.2 million for improvements to the terminal, including new heating and air conditioning, as well as the purchase of snow removal equipment. It also will receive nearly $190,000 to study environmental issues surrounding proposed drainage improvements.
Eastern West Virginia Regional Airport in Martinsburg will receive $72,000 for a noise-related study, and the Jackson County Airport in Ravenswood will get just over $365,000 to help build a six-unit T-hangar facility.
