NITRO, W.Va. -- A Charleston man was arrested late Thursday in connection with a robbery and beating in Nitro last week.

Keith Jamal Burnett, 29, of 922 Central Ave., was arrested on a felony warrant and charged with first-degree robbery, malicious wounding, nighttime burglary and assault, according to Nitro Police Patrolman Ray Blake.

Police believe Burnett broke into a home in Nitro on Aug. 31 and threatened a woman with a gun before beating her in the head with the firearm and making off with several items from the home, Blake said. The woman was severely injured in the attack.

Burnett was in the South Central Regional Jail on Friday with bail set at $50,000.
