Bulletin Board: Sept. 8, 2012

West Virginia Made Trade Association has canceled the West Virginia Made Trade Show scheduled for Sept. 8 at the Flatwoods Days Hotel Conference Center. The show will be rescheduled at a later date. The event will include a special preview for wholesale buyers followed by a sales event for the general public. It will feature artisan-made products from around West Virginia. Applications for vendors and wholesale buyers are available on the association's website, http://wvmade.org. Check the site or follow WV Made on Facebook to be alerted of the new date. West Virginia Made Trade Association began as a joint effort between West Virginia State University Extension Service, West Virginia Preservation Alliance and a core group of local artisans. The group works collaboratively to showcase their products and services and bring them to market.Libbey-Owens-Ford Retirees will meet for breakfast at 10 a.m. Sept. 10 at Bob Evans restaurant, Kanawha City. Kanawha County Public Library system board of directors will meet at 4 p.m. Sept. 10 in the John V. Ray Room, third floor, Main Library, 123 Capitol St. Call 304-343-4646 for more information.

Torch Bearer Alpha Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority will meet for dinner at 6 p.m. Sept. 10 at Bob Evans, Elkview. The meeting will follow at 7 p.m. Linda Wible will host the meeting.

West Virginia Landlords will meet Sept. 10 at the Moose Lodge, Kanawha Boulevard E. Social hour is 6 p.m. and the dinner/meeting starts at 7 p.m. All landlords are invited. Call 304-342-4342 for information.

Woman's Club of Charleston will hold a friendship tea from 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 12 at the club. The tea is held annually to allow prospective members an opportunity to visit and meet current club members in anticipation of joining the club. Anyone interested in attending or joining should call the club at 304-342-1611.

Kanawha County Public Library will feature storyteller, actor and writer Karen Vuranch in a portrayal of Laura Ingalls Wilder, homesteader and author of the beloved "Little House" books, in a living-history performance that blends scholarly research and active dialogue. This portrayal spans Wilder's life in the Dakota Territory and in Missouri, where Wilder began to write for local papers and magazines. Programs will take place at 2 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Main Library, 10 a.m. Sept. 13 at Riverside Public Library, 1 p.m. Sept. 13 at the St. Albans Branch Library, 10 a.m. Sept. 14 at the Elk Valley Branch Library, and 2 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Cross Lanes Branch Library.
