Regional airport upgrades back on track

WILLIAMSTOWN, W.Va. -- A safety project at the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport is back on track after several years of delays.

The project originally was to be completed in two years. Airport manager Terry Moore says the project just passed the six-year mark.

Improvements include creating a 500-foot safety area on either end of the runway and installing light towers to extend the runway's visual by 2,400 feet.

Moore tells the Parkersburg News and Sentinel (http://bit.ly/Rvp1AI ) that the original contractor stopped work on the project in August 2011. At that time, the work was 95 percent complete.

The project was awarded to another contractor in May.
