GE exec speaking at WVU's annual Festival of Ideas
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- General Electric CEO Jeffrey Immelt is set to kick off West Virginia University's 2012-13 David C. Hardesty Jr. http://festivalofideas.wvu.edu/" target="_blank">Festival of Ideas.
Officials say Immelt is scheduled to speak Wednesday night in the Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre at the Creative Arts Center. The topic of his speech is "Globalization and the Lessons of Leadership."
Immelt was appointed president and chief executive officer of GE in 2000. He has held the position of chairman since September 2001.
Immelt is currently the chair of President Obama's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness.
The Festival of Ideas began in 1995. It features key figures in politics, sports, business, entertainment, research and culture. A live webcast of the event will broadcast at http://webcast.wvu.edu.
