CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Drivers can learn more about properly maintaining vehicles' brakes during Brake Safety Week this week.

The state Public Service Commission's Transportation Enforcement Division is participating in Brake Safety Week, which is designed to help drivers understand the importance of brake inspection, maintenance and operation by focusing on enhancing knowledge, regulatory compliance and performance of commercial vehicle braking systems.

PSC enforcement officers will conduct safety inspections that focus on brakes at the weigh stations on Interstate 64 eastbound in Winfield, Interstate 77 northbound and southbound in Mineral Wells, and Interstate 79 northbound and southbound in Fairmont.

Brake Safety Week is part of the Operation Air Brake Campaign, an ongoing effort by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance.
