Corrections veteran named jail authority chief of operations
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A former corrections officer who worked his way up through the ranks has been picked as the new chief of operations for the West Virginia Regional Jail and Correctional Facility Authority.
Carl Aldridge, currently a lieutenant at the Western Regional Jail, will oversee operations at all 10 regional jails, according to jail authority spokeswoman Ashley Bennett.
Aldridge will answer to the deputy executive director and to Acting Executive Director Joe DeLong, Bennett said.
Aldridge began his career in 1993 as a correctional officer at the South Central Regional Jail. He was promoted to corporal in 1995 and sergeant in 2001. He then went to the Western Regional Jail, where he was promoted to first sergeant in 2003 and lieutenant in 2007.
Aldridge is expected to take over his new duties in mid-September.
