WILSONBURG, W.Va. -- Authorities say a Louisiana man has died of burns he suffered during a weekend motel fire in West Virginia.

Harrison County Sheriff Albert Marano identified the victim as 21-year-old Dustin McCellen of Winnsboro.

Media outlets report that McCellen was an oil and gas industry worker who was staying at the Towne House West Motor Lodge when it caught fire early Sunday morning.

Assistant State Fire Marshal Mackey Ayersman said Tuesday the fire apparently began near the roof on the motel's western end, but the damage was so extensive the cause cannot be determined.

The fire swept through half the property and destroyed about 30 rooms.

No one else was injured. Many of the rooms were rented by other gas workers who had gone home for the weekend.
