Ten women honored by W.Va. ag dept.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- West Virginia is recognizing 10 women for their contributions to agriculture and forestry.
The honorees included Anna Lee Douglass, the wife of veteran Commissioner of Agriculture Gus R. Douglass. Raised on a farm, Douglass remains active in farming through the Mason County Extension Service and other activities.
Others honored included beef cattle farmer Velma Butler of Inwood, family farmer Virginia Tabb of Leetown, agriculture teacher Mary E. Phillips of Barboursville, conservation district supervisor Bernadette Law of Camden, educator Jean Woloshuk of Morgantown, farm market general manager Delores Pomeroy of Terra Alta, sheep farmer Ginger Nelson of Lewisburg, farmer Sandy Smith of Keyser and the late Donna Teter-Bee, who operated a farm in Randolph County.
The women were honored by the West Virginia Department of Agriculture at the state fair.
