CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- State Supreme Court Clerk Rory Perry II was named president of the National Conference of Appellate Clerk Courts at the organization's national conference in South Carolina.

As president, Perry, a former Supreme Court candidate, will be responsible for the organization's executive functions and will preside over next year's national conference in Seattle, according to a news release.

"He should be president of the national association," Chief Justice Menis Ketchum said in the release. "He is the best clerk in the United States."

Perry is a native of Huntington and a graduate of Marshall University. He received his law degree from West Virginia University in 1994.
