ELKINS, W.Va. -- A former Elkins Middle School teacher has been found not guilty of sexually abusing a student.

Media outlets report a Randolph County Circuit Court jury delivered the verdict Thursday in Elkins.

Twenty-nine-year-old Autumn Rae Faulkner of Beverly had been charged with three felony counts of third-degree sexual assault and three felony counts of sexual abuse by a custodian or person of trust to a child.

The teenager, who was 15 at the time, testified he had sex with her several times in the fall of 2008 but ended the relationship after a few months because she wanted to marry him.

Defense attorney Rocco Mazzei argued prosecutors lacked either physical evidence or witnesses to corroborate the teen's story.
