Moundsville wrestles with camped-out gas workers
Advertiser

MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. -- The city of Moundsville is wrestling with an unexpected spinoff of the gas-drilling boom -- a proliferation of campers and RVs.

City Councilman David Wood tells WTOV the city has about 150 such campers in place already.

Some residents want zoning changes to allow the campers, which provide housing for industry workers. But Wood says there are many others who don't want transient guests in their neighborhoods.

Objections range from appearance to concerns about safety.

Wood says city officials assess each request thoroughly before deciding whether to approve it.

But he says council gets both requests and complaints at nearly every meeting it has.
