WHEELING, W.Va. -- Wheeling Jesuit University is hosting a free public screening of a new film about the former Mount de Chantal Academy and its impact on thousands of young women over 160 years.

Sister Joanne Gonter will host the Thursday<co Sept. 20> event. The film, called "For Mind and Spirit,'' was shot during the Wheeling Catholic school's final year.

Mount de Chantal was founded in 1848. The last students graduated in 2008 after years of declining enrollment and rising costs.

Gonter and four other Sisters of the Visitation moved to Washington in 2010.

The film was produced by the Walkabout Co. of Wheeling and funded in part by the Wheeling National Heritage Area Corp.

An exhibit of archival materials will be on display, along with a slide show of historical photographs.
