MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- More than 10 million emails enter West Virginia University's network every day. But only a fraction of them are legitimate.

Interim chief information officer Mark Six tells The Dominion Post that most of the email coming into the university's network is junk.

Six says spammers make 156,000 attempts a week to intrude into WVU's network. Typically, they're looking for email servers that they can use to distribute spam emails.

Security measures are taken to catch the intrusions and block the attempts.
