Pa. couple pledges $250,000 gift to WVU
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- West Virginia University is receiving a $250,000 gift to support its engineering and business programs.
The gift announced Monday by the university was pledged by Gregory Babe and his wife, Carla, of Mount Lebanon, Pa., to the WVU Foundation.
The gift includes $200,000 for the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources and $50,000 for the College of Business and Economics. The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering will receive $150,000 of the Statler College's total.
Gregory Babe is chief executive officer of Orbital Engineering. He retired as president and CEO of Bayer Corp. in June after 32 years with the company.
He graduated from WVU in 1980 with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
