CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- West Virginia Department of Transportation crews were kept busy Tuesday, tending to two tractor-trailer accident scenes on Interstate 77 after heavy rainfall.

This FedEx truck, traveling northbound near Cabin Creek at 1:30 p.m., hit standing water, jackknifed and overturned, according to Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatchers. Crews shut down the northbound and southbound lanes for more than an hour to clean up debris.

Other emergency crews had responded elsewhere on I-77 just a few minutes earlier, when two tractor-trailers hit standing water and jackknifed in the northbound lane near Sissonville at about 1:23 p.m. One of those trucks caught fire, but firefighters were able to safely contain the blaze.

No serious injuries were reported, dispatchers said.
