WVU Tech holding meeting on revitalization

MONTGOMERY, W.Va. -- A committee looking at ways to revitalize West Virginia University Institute of Technology is set to meet.

The committee is scheduled to meet Thursday in Montgomery. The committee first met in March to kick off a multi-year review and planning effort.

WVU Tech says among the items on Thursday's agenda are a possible collaboration with Bridgemont Community and Technical College.

An audit done for the Legislature documented a 50 percent decline in enrollment over the past decade that it said has left WVU Tech "continually starved for operating funds."

Officials say the committee is to provide guidance and support in strengthening the school's mission by creating new opportunities to "recruit, retain, and rebuild."
