PARKERSBURG, W.Va. -- Police said two Parkersburg men hid a woman's body inside the trunk of her car after she died of an apparent drug overdose on Thursday.
Arthur Allen Thornton, 42, and Victor Lee Thompson, 35, both of Parkersburg, were arrested Friday and charged with concealing a dead body and conspiracy to conceal a dead body, according to a news release issued by the Parkersburg Police Department.
Police said the two men hid the body of Brandy Marie Adams, 25, inside her trunk and parked the car at the Seventh Street Car Wash in Parkersburg. Adams died from an apparent drug overdose at her nearby trailer sometime Thursday, according to the release.
It was unclear what type of drug contributed to her death. Her body was sent to Charleston for autopsy.
Parkersburg Police Sgt. Greg Collins said police received a call at about 8 p.m. Thursday about an unattended car in a washing bay. When a police officer popped the vehicle's trunk, he discovered her body.
Wood County Sheriff's deputies arrested Thornton early Friday in Walker, according to the release. He was wanted for outstanding warrants for four counts of forgery, four counts of uttering and one count of joy riding. Thompson was picked up later that day and charged because of his alleged involvement.
The men were arraigned Friday in Wood County Magistrate Court and ordered held in North Central Regional Jail.
Police said more arrest might be forthcoming.
