CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Charleston police detectives have found a car allegedly stolen by two men during a carjacking last week.

The vehicle was found parked in the 500 block of Wyoming Street on the West Side, Charleston Police Sgt. Bobby Eggleton said Monday.

The car belongs to Emery Casdorph, 65, who reported to police that two men wearing masks held him at gunpoint just after midnight on Thursday. The men attempted to use Casdorph's ATM card at the Chase Bank on 613 Virginia Street E. before allegedly hitting him several times with a handgun and taking his 2011 Honda Accord.

Eggleton said Charleston detectives J.D. Koerber and J.C. Webb drove around the West Side with Casdorph's spare key remote while pressing the panic button. They eventually triggered the car's alarm and drove toward the sound.

"That was a good bit of police work," Eggleton said.

The detectives collected fingerprints from the car and sent the data to a DNA lab for processing. The car was not damaged and Casdorph is "ecstatic" about getting it back, Eggleton said.

Detectives are now searching the area to find witnesses who saw the car when it was parked.

Police released images of two "persons of interest" last week in connection to the incident. They have not been identified. Casdorph described the suspects as two black men wearing dark-colored clothing.
