Fatal mauling of Pleasants County boy ruled accident

ST. MARYS, W.Va. -- Pleasants County prosecutor Carl Bryant says the fatal mauling of a 2-year-old boy by two dogs has been ruled an accident.

Bryant tells the Parkersburg News and Sentinel that the incident won't be presented to the grand jury for consideration unless new evidence comes up.

Police have said the mixed-breed dogs attacked Jack Redin of St. Marys after he wandered into a neighbor's yard on June 13. The boy was dead when his father found him.

The dogs were confined by an underground electronic fence. They were euthanized after the attack.
