CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A man walking along Interstate 77 near Edens Fork was killed after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning, police said.

Kanawha County Sheriff's Department Capt. Bryan Robbins said a woman traveling northbound struck the man at the 106-mile marker at about 8:30 a.m.

The man's name hasn't been released pending notification of family, Robbins said. Deputies were reconstructing the accident Wednesday afternoon, he said.

This is the third reported pedestrian-auto fatality in Kanawha County since August. Amanda N. Bess, 31, of Charleston, was struck by a modified hearse as she crossed U.S. 60 in Jefferson on Sept. 14, police said. Police ruled the collision an accident because the driver didn't see Bess.

A driver fatally injured Sara Lowery, 22, and injured Henry Stuck Jr., 40, as the pair walked along Cross Lanes Drive near Nitro on Sept. 19. Police are sill investigating the accident and Stuck has been released from the hospital.

On Friday, police said Donald Hugle, 49, was accidentally struck outside Grumpy's Bar along U.S. 60 in Jefferson. No charges will be filed, police said. Hugle's family and friends held a vigil outside the bar Sunday and urged drivers and pedestrians to use caution along that stretch of roadway.
