CLARKSBURG, W.Va. -- A former Salem official has pleaded guilty to falsifying city accounts and conspiring to embezzle city funds.

Former City Clerk Sherry Olenick entered her pleas Monday in Harrison County Circuit Court.

Harrison County chief assistant prosecutor Susan Morris tells The Exponent Telegram that Olenick agreed to cooperate in the case against co-defendant and former city manager David Mayle.

A grand jury indicted Olenick and Mayle in 2010. Mayle's trial is set for Oct. 9.

Olenick is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 5.
