FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Consol Energy is making a big donation to one Marion County community.

A spokeswoman for the Pennsylvania-based coal and gas producer says Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin was to be at the presentation Thursday to the Marion County Commission and Chamber of Commerce.

Consol executives were to present the city of Fairview with a $100,000 check for a water line extension project. The gathering was Thursday afternoon at Westchester Village.

Spokeswoman Miranda Kessel says Consol has donated more than $350,000 to Marion County causes in less than two years.

Consol will also lay out its "Working Safely for a Cause" program after the governor's speech.

Kessel says it lets workers choose a cause or a family in need, and the company makes donations as a reward for keeping the mines accident-free.
