MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Morgantown will host a brand-new comic convention featuring comic books, comic strips, manga, anime, gaming and toys.

The West Virginia Popular Culture Convention is set for Oct. 6-7 at the Mylan Park Expo Center.

Promoter Jon Hayes expects collectors and pop culture enthusiasts from across the country.

New York Times best-selling writer Kyle Higgins, artist Ron Frenz and writer/artist Billy Tucci highlight the guest list.

Also slated to appear are artists Jerry Gaylord, Bo Hampton, Mark Wheatley, Neil Vokes and Josh Medors, and writers Robert Tinnell and J.C. Vaughn.

Vaughn is bringing the first West Virginia Pop comic book, "Zombie-Proof: Zombie Zoo,'' among others.

Children's activities are scheduled, and video games will be set up at the convention, along with role playing games.

Tournaments are planned.
