Tomblin certifies Cacapon park expansion for bonds

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. -- The state's planned expansion of Cacapon Resort State Park in Morgan County is moving forward.

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin certified the project Wednesday. The governor's action will allow the West Virginia Economic Development Authority to sell bonds to help pay for the project.

The project includes an 80-room addition with a fitness area, indoor and outdoor pools and a sauna. Improvements to the park's 18-hole golf course also are planned.

Cacapon's existing 49-room lodge was built in 1957. The park also has 31 cabins.
