HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- The executive director of the Huntington Area Food Bank has resigned after two years in the position.

Leigh Anne Zappin gave a letter of resignation to the food bank's board last week, says the board's president, Stanley Mills.

The Herald-Dispatch reports Zappin started working at the food bank in 2008 and was promoted to interim director when the previous director was released. She was named executive director in fall 2010.

Mills says Tiffany Tatum has been named interim director while a search is under way for a full-time director.

Last year the nonprofit food bank's warehouse distributed more than 6 million pounds of food to organizations helping the needy in 17 counties in Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia.
