State treasury's latest online auction nears end
Advertiser

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- West Virginians have until Oct. 18 to participate in the latest auction of unclaimed property by the state treasurer's office.

The items are being auctioned off online at www.WestVirginiaUnclaimedProperty.org.

The items are from abandoned safe deposit boxes. According to the treasurer's office, they include unusual things such as tractor supply gift cards and more typical, but valuable, items like diamond jewelry and coins.

The state periodically auctions off unclaimed property because of a lack of storage space. Proceeds are held for possible claim by owners or their heirs. So far, the state treasury has taken in about $65,000 from 19 online auctions.
